I know....It's January 21st and I am just now writing a post about New Year's in NYC! With boards coming up in May (yikes!) and third year rotations starting right after in June (what?!), I realized that the chances I would have to jet off back east to see college friends were becoming fewer and fewer. So when I found a cheap ticket in October for a flight to JFK I bought it STAT! Luckily one of my dearest friends planned to be around and she let me crash in her adorable East Villiage studio for 5 nights. NYC was still done up in all of its Christmas decorations, and it was just so much fun to walk around and visit all the places I had fallen in love with over the summer. And so many of my college friends made the trek into/back to Manhattan eat bagels and crepes and macarons with me! I was so so touched. My sorority little sis even hung out with me all day on New Years Day after having just gotten off a 21 hour flight from Thailand! Now that is rallying.
I initially wanted to go to Times Square for the whole ball drop thing but was veryyyy quickly talked out of this by multiple friends. Personally, I think Times Square is gross and touristy, even during the best of circumstances, and when I found out we'd have to camp out all day and lose time that could be spent exploring (read: eating) the city, not to mention the NO BATHROOMS thing, I was happy to give up this bucket list item. So instead a bunch of friends and friends of friends came together for a casual NYE apartment party! It was so fun, and the hostess decorated everything so adorably. We played charades, watched the countdown, drank champagne, and ate various dessert dips.
Cheers! I hope everyone's 2016 is off to a good start! Xx.
